Rinjani and Samalas

A mountain, not a settlement.

Rinjani is the great peak of Lombok, and beside it stands the cone of Samalas, which on 1 January 1200 is intact. In about September 1257 (1258 is possible) Samalas destroys itself in the largest eruption in the world in several thousand years, leaving the caldera lake that is there now; ice cores in both hemispheres record the sulphur, and the Babad Lombok describes a kingdom of Pamatan swept away (en.wikipedia). Samalas may have stood about 4,200 m high before it collapsed.

The mountain the player sees here has fifty-seven years left.
