Mayon and Albay

The perfect cone at the south-east end of Luzon is the seamark for the whole approach to the San Bernardino strait, and a mountain that kills when it goes (board).

The Bicol river plain behind it is good rice country and carries the only sizeable inland population of southern Luzon (board). No dated eruption belongs to 1200, and no chief or town is named before the Spanish.

Where the sources disagree

Evidence: Geography and the campaign board only. The campaign board marks it 'likely'.

"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.

On the map: A place marker; the ground round it, if any, is drawn in the lord and province records.
