An Old Malay inscription of 997 in the hills above the west Lampung coast, recording a grant: one of the very few dated texts from anywhere in Sumatra between the seventh and the thirteenth centuries.
It shows a literate authority in the far south two hundred years before the date. The findspot is approximate (the village lies in the West Lampung district round Liwa).
