Ruhuna

The south and south-east of the island from the Walawe to the Kumbukkan Oya, with the sacred sites of Magama and Kataragama, the Yala forest and coast and the harbours at Kirinda and Godavaya.

In the chronicles Ruhuna is the refuge of the true Sinhalese kings in the Chola time. Parakramabahu I broke its autonomy in the 1160s and its chiefs have been quiet since.
