Province, circuit or island group · The court at Kyoto and its provinces · as at first light, 1 January 1200

Iga

A small mountain basin of the Kizu headwaters, west of the Suzuka barrier, split among small estates; Tōdaiji holds Kuroda-no-shō here (see Kuroda-no-shō).

The Taira partisans rose in Iga in 1184 and were put down [not yet checked against the source]. Iga is kjw's by the sheet rule: the sheet line runs at Suzuka, and Ise is on the other side.

Where the sources disagree

Evidence: The campaign board entry and recollection; no province-level source for 1200 was reachable.

"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.

On the map: Drawn as the old province from the modern units round the places named; the borders follow the units, not the 8th-century boundaries.
