Hida

Hida is the high mountain province of the Japan Alps' western slope, with the Takayama basin and the upper Hida and Jinzū rivers.

Its old tax was craftsmen's labour (Hida no takumi, recalled). It is the court's province with little Kamakura presence, and the high valleys are home to peoples whose lords we cannot name.

How things stand that morning

What Kamakura names or controls: None known. What stops it: Mountains, distance, and no Kamakura post.

Where the sources disagree

Evidence: Recollection, the brief and the campaign board; no list of governors or constables for 1200 was opened.

"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.

On the map: A rough outline from the modern prefecture; the old province's edges differ in places.
