Harshnath

A Shaiva temple on a hill above the northern salt road, built by the middle of the tenth century and carrying the Harsha inscription of 973 which records the Chahamana kings, their grants and the salt guild's tithe (board: a guild of Shakambhari salt traders promising the temple a cut on every measure).

It is the house shrine of the Chahamana dynasty in its first country. Nobody holds the hill in any military sense.
