Three stanzas of the Reichston, composed between 1198 and 1201 after Walther left Vienna, lament the disorder of the double election and call on Philip to take the crown. The Philippston celebrates Philip's crowning at Mainz in September 1198 and describes Philip's Christmas court at Magdeburg on 25 December 1199, with Philip and his Byzantine queen Irene in procession, a scene from the week before 1 January 1200. Court poetry, partisan for Philip, but a rare eyewitness voice.
