The pope's own file on the German throne war: letters to and from Philip, Otto, the German princes and bishops, and the famous Deliberatio of late 1200 or early 1201 in which Innocent weighs the claims of Frederick, Philip and Otto before deciding for Otto. For 1200 it holds the princes' appeals of 1199, the papal replies, and Otto IV's letters reporting on his position, including one from spring 1200 that mentions the expected Danish move into Saxony. It is the single most important source for papal policy toward the Empire in 1200, written to justify the pope's choice.
