The desert fort on the edge of the Jangaladesa, Chahamana ground from the Ghaznavid wars to Prithviraja III and one of the standard commands of that dynasty.
It fell to the conquerors after 1192, but no source we reached dates the change and nothing fixes who is collecting from it on this morning. It controls the caravan road from Ajmer out toward Sind and the salt lakes, and is the western limit of anything the Ghurids can reach in force.
