Monastir

Monastir grew round the ribat founded in 796, a holy place of frontier devotion and the burial ground of the Zirid princes, twenty kilometres from Mahdia.

Whether it followed the rebel of Mahdia or stayed with Tunis is not recorded; drawn as contested.
