Madina Manurqa, at the western end of Menorca, is the island's chief town.
On the account of Baadj and Kennedy the island is in Almohad hands on 1 January 1200 and is retaken by Abd Allah ibn Ghaniya in 1201 after a long siege; other histories keep it Banu Ghaniya until 1202-1203. The Almohads take it in 1203.
