The town of the high plain south of Sana'a, on the road between the Ayyubid south and Sana'a, in the country of the Madhhij tribes (Ans).
Fought over in 1198, when Zaydi forces defeated an Ayyubid army at Dhamar and the imam took the town and its district. With Sana'a back in Ayyubid hands later that year or in 1199, Dhamar may have returned to them too; not pinned.
