Cua Nhat Le (Dong Hoi)

The mouth of the Nhật Lệ and the landing for the old district of Địa Lý, Viet since the cession of 1069.

The plain here is a narrow strip between the range and the sea and it feeds nobody but itself (board). Địa Lý was renamed Lâm Bình by the Ly (from memory, not checked). The name Đồng Hới is of the Nguyen centuries.

Places of note

  • Cua Nhat Le (Dong Hoi): The place

Where the sources disagree

  • Map ruling (sheet builder, pass 1): the Nhat Le mouth (Dong Hoi) is drawn as contested, as this record says. The Khmer researcher's anchor for Dong Hoi gives it to Dai Viet; the researcher who owns the Viet and Cham coast stands.

Evidence: The campaign board entry note and a modern coordinate; nothing in our sources dates the place to 1200.

"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.
