Town · Bishopric of Paderborn · as at first light, 1 January 1200

Brilon

In 1200 a village, not a town.

Once Magdeburg's (973), it passed by exchange to the Paderborn church, which enfeoffed its advocates; about 1220 Archbishop Engelbert of Cologne buys the land from the brothers Hermann and Gernand of Brilon and founds a walled town.
