A plateau town of tanks and temples five hundred metres up on the Uparmal, known for the rock inscription cut for the Chahamana Someshvara (thirty lines, ninety verses, dated by the campaign board 1226 VS = 1170), the best genealogy of the Shakambhari house that survives.
The Parshvanatha Jain temple was built in 1169 by Lolark, a merchant of Ujjain, which shows Malwa money reaching this far west. With Ajmer in Ghurid hands the plateau's allegiance is open: this is the seam between Mewar, Malwa and the conquest.
