al-Hasa

The great spring-fed palm oasis of eastern Arabia, the old capital of the Qarmatians and then of the Uyunids, who made it their seat again under Shukr ibn Mansur from 580 (1184).

Its walled town and gardens are fed by hot springs; caravans run to Yamama, to Iraq and to the coast at al-Uqayr.
