Gorontalo chiefs

Gorontalo stands on the neck of Sulawesi's north arm, with Lake Limboto behind it and gold in the rivers on both sides (the campaign board names the Sumalata and Paguyaman diggings).

Gold is the one thing the north arm has that is worth carrying far, and it goes out on the Tomini and Sulawesi Sea sides. The polities of Gorontalo and Limboto are attested only from much later (genealogies of the fifteenth to seventeenth centuries and the European reports, as we recall), so for 1200 this record stands on the gold and the geography.

Where the sources disagree

Evidence: Geography and the campaign board only. The campaign board marks it 'likely'.

"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.

On the map: Near land of the villages, drawn as seeded blocks.
