The country from the Abu pass north-east through Nadol and the Godwar to Pali, where the Rajput confederacy was broken near Mount Abu in 1197 and Nadol was found abandoned.
The campaign board says the country west of the Aravallis has had no field army since the day. Ghurid control of the road did not follow the victory; the Chaulukya court came back to Anahilapataka and the Chahamana lords of Nadol and Jalor and the Paramara of Abu are still in place, so the belt is a country that neither side can hold or farm in strength rather than a front.
Allies and rivals
Ghurid columns from Ajmer against the Chaulukya and Rajput lords of Abu, Nadol and Jalor; the hill clans (Bhil, Mina) profit.
How things stand that morning
Three years since the last campaign; nothing in the sources we reached shows a raid in 1199.
Military
Last campaign: 1197 (Wikipedia gives Aibak defeating the Chaulukyas at Mount Abu and sacking Anhilwara in 1197; the campaign board gives 4 February 1197 for Kasahrada, which we could not check). Anchors: Chandravati and Mount Abu (Paramara), Nadol (Chahamana), Jalor (Chahamana) on one side; Ajmer (Ghurid garrison) on the other.
Where the sources disagree
- The campaign board's 'confederacy at Kasahrada in 1197' and Wikipedia's 'Kasahrada 1178' are two different battles at the same place; see Chaulukya Gujarat.
Evidence: Wikipedia's Aibak, Naddula and Paramara pages; the campaign board.
"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.
On the map: A rough polygon over ground that neither side can hold or farm; the edges are not fixed.
