Collection to Break Up Idleness

The earlier of the two Goryeo books of literary anecdote, by a scholar who survived the military coup of 1170 by taking refuge in a monastery and later served under the Choe regime. Its stories of poets, kings, monks, temples, gardens and provincial towns are the best witness to the civil elite's life and culture under military rule around 1200, and it names many of the men in office then. Light on politics by design.
