The record of what men offered the new king for his favour: fines for lands, wardships, marriages, offices, pardons and the king's goodwill, from the first months of the reign. For 1200 it shows the price of John's grace in money, hawks and horses, which heirs and widows were in his gift, and how the great sums due from the Angevin settlement were pursued. Read with the pipe rolls, it tells who was paying to stand well with the king.
