A London view of the year from the dean of St Paul's, who knew the justiciar and the bishops personally. The 1200 entries cover John's doings in Normandy and the peace with Philip, the royal marriage, Hugh of Lincoln's death and the gathering of kings and bishops at his funeral, and church business in the province of Canterbury. Diceto is brief for these last years, but his dates are reliable and he copies letters. The chronicle ends in 1202, with a short continuation by another hand.
