The charters of the two north German towns and of the archbishops of Bremen and Hamburg. For 1200 the Hamburg volume holds Archbishop Hartwig II's acts, including those for the Livonian mission he sponsored and for Count Adolf III of Holstein, and the Lübeck volume the privileges of Barbarossa (1188) and the acts of the years when Lübeck passed from Adolf of Holstein to King Knud VI of Denmark (1201). They show the trading town's rights on the eve of Danish rule.
