The annals of Aleppo. For 1200 it gives al-Zahir Ghazi's rule: his part with al-Afdal in the attempt on Damascus (1199), his breach with al-Adil and the oaths al-Adil took from the Aleppan lords, the rebuilding of the citadel and walls, dealings with the Seljuks of Rum, with Leo of Cilicia and Antioch, and with the Turkmen of the frontier. Ibn al-Adim came from an Aleppan family of qadis and used the city's archives, so he is exact on Aleppo and northern Syria and thin elsewhere.
