History of the Dukes of Normandy and the Kings of England

A Flemish lord's clerk writing twenty years on, with a soldier's interest in who fought whom. For 1199 and 1200 he tells John's accession against Arthur, the Norman war and the peace with Philip, and he is the earliest to give the hostile stories about John's marriage to Isabella of Angouleme and the Lusignans' grievance. Thin for 1200 beside the years after 1213, which he saw himself, but a northern French view of the Angevins with Flemish and Artois names in it.
