Nine sets of house annals, each with a short entry for 1200. Margam (Glamorgan, vol. 1) gives the Welsh March a voice and is near contemporary from the 1190s; Waverley (Surrey, vol. 2) is the Cistercian record of John's carucage of 1200 and his quarrel with the order, ended at Lincoln in November; Winchester (vol. 2) and Worcester (vol. 4) note the royal marriage and coronation and the deaths of bishops; Dunstable (vol. 3) was begun in 1210 and its 1200 entry is retrospective; Burton, Tewkesbury, Bermondsey and Osney are thin for this year. Together they fix local dates and show how news of Le Goulet, the Cistercian quarrel and Hugh of Lincoln's death reached the provinces.
