Cabaret

The castles of Cabaret, three towers on a ridge above the Orbiel north of Carcassonne, guard the Cabardes and its mines.

The lords are among the Trencavel's most loyal men and patrons of troubadours and Cathars. In 1209-1211 Cabaret resisted Simon de Montfort for two years, and Peter Roger took the crusader Bouchard de Marly prisoner.
