Ugbo and Ilaje

The fishing and salt-making people of the mangrove coast east of the Lekki lagoon (Ilaje, Ugbo, with the Ikale inland).

The Ugbo tradition claims a kingship older than Ife's dynasty, and some writers identify the 'Igbo' raiders of Ife's Moremi story with the Ugbo; both claims are undated. The western Ijaw (Arogbo, Apoi) live next to them.
