Southern Igbo

The densely settled Igbo village groups between the Niger and the Imo, south of the Umueri towns: the Isu of Orlu and Okigwe, the Owerri and Mbaise groups, the Ngwa, Etche and Ikwerre towards the delta.

Governed by lineage elders, title societies and the earth cult; no king. They traded yams and food to the delta peoples for fish and salt.
