Igala

The Igala-speaking farmers and river people between the Niger and the Idoma country.

The Igala kingdom of the Ata at Idah, with its line from Ebule-Jonu, Agana-Poje and Idoko to Ayegba, is placed in the sixteenth century by the traditions summarised in Wikipedia (other writers put its origins earlier, but not as early as 1200 on any evidence we found). In 1200 the Igala are governed by their clan heads and earth priests.
