Delagoa Bay peoples

Farmers, herders and fishers of the lower Limpopo floodplain, the Incomati and the shores of Delagoa Bay, south of the reach of the Muslim traders as far as the evidence shows.

Early farmers lived at Matola in the first millennium; the twelfth century is thinly known. The Tsonga and Ronga names belong to later centuries. The Limpopo mouth was the natural sea end of the river route from the middle Limpopo, but no trading place of 1200 is known there.
