Bwa and Bobo

The farming villages of the Black Volta's great bend and the upper Mouhoun: the Bwa round Dedougou, Solenzo, Hounde and into the later Mali, the Bobo round the later Bobo-Dioulasso.

Villages governed by their elders, earth priests and mask societies, with no chiefs over them. Shown from later ethnography; the Mande traders who later founded the Dyula quarter of Bobo-Dioulasso came after 1200.
