Baza (Bazin)

Al-Ya'qubi (889) lists Bazin among the peoples between Aswan and Massawa; the name survives in Baza, the old name of the Kunama, Nilo-Saharan farmers of the lowlands between the Gash and the Setit (Tekeze).

They live in villages without kings, under elders, and were raided for slaves by their neighbours in later centuries. Their range in 1200 is placed by their later homeland and the old name.
