The monasteries of Ratnagiri, Udayagiri and Lalitagiri in the Vaitarani country

The three Buddhist hill monasteries of Jajpur district (Ratnagiri, Udayagiri also called Madhavapura mahavihara, and Lalitagiri), on the campaign board "secure" or "likely" for the Gangas, with Vajrayana tradition and rich carving.

We know no source for their state in 1200; they were in decline by the Ganga period (general knowledge, unchecked).

Where the sources disagree

Evidence: The campaign board entry only.

"The campaign board" is OMNIA's working map. These notes record where its earlier claims were checked against the sources.

On the map: A small disc for the house and its home villages; the granted villages lay scattered.

Primary sources for Eastern Gangas
